I am doing a VASL setup for AP83 "Thai Hot". I placed board 9a next to board 8a and placed the Beach and Ocean overlays on that.

I noticed that they don't have any printed coordinates and when I mouse over a counter on the overlays they show the underlying board coordinate e.g. "9aC15".

The Japanese LC "set up in Ocean hexes numbered >= 1027" so without any printed Ocean coordinates it is a bit confusing. I could label some 0-hex draggable overlays but I thought there might be an easier way to do this.

Any ideas?

Use the overlay extension. The beach and ocean overlays are numbered in it. The mouse over hex ID will still report the coordinate from the board underneath, but at least you can visually see where the >=1027 hexes are.
