So, playing an old General scenario, G9 - Sunday of the Dead. The Germans receive "...one module of loo+mm OBA with Scarce Ammo, directed by an Offboard Observer at level O."

I know in these old scenarios the type of fire missions (HE, SMOKE, whatnot) weren't really specified. I have a hazy recollection that the conventional wisdom was to consult Chapter H and if any gun of the given caliber was capable of firing SMOKE (i.e. had a depletion # on the back of the counter), or whatever, then you could employ that type of fire mission.

How do you handle this situation?

TIA-

If it does not preclude Smoke in the SSR and it is available to that nation at the date of the scenario Smoke should be available. The same would apply to SMOKE (WP), not normally allowed to the Germans.

IIRC, there is an old Q&A saying that all German/Russian OBA Modules have HE & Smoke in the absence of an SSR saying otherwise.
