Hi all,
we came across the following in our game today and would appreciate some clarification:
A German aerial observer with a radio contact value of 8 and with a FFE2 on board rolled a maintenance DR of 11 the OBA mission is a 80mm btn mtr and thus gets a -2 ( -1 for maintenance of batt mtr OBA and -1 currently having radio contact (maintenance)) to the radio maintenance roll result in a 9 and thus failure to maintain radio contact for this phase.
Our understanding is that the FFE2 thus has to remain in place and cannot be corrected or canceled and is then flipped to it's FFE-C.
In the next OBA action phase (German prep fire phase) the observer rolls a 9 for his radio contact, however, we are uncertain of which negative modifiers apply to this roll.
We assume that the -1 for currently having radio contact does not apply, but we cannot determine from the rules whether the -1 for maintaining a radio contact for a batt mtr applies or not - it is the same fire mission but contact was lost in the pervious phase and thus it is not technically maintaining contact - is this classed as a new access or is it a continuation (maintenance) of the existing fire mission.
Regards
Simon
