Can anyone cite a rule that describes the effects OBA has on smoke currently on board?

Interpreting "affect SMOKE" most expansively, an OBA concentration greater than 70 mm will increase the Hindrance effect of SMOKE by one. Separate Hindrances within a hex are cumulative.

OK, a few cases then in a slightly off topic question, what's the total hindrance of LOS through:

a) in same hex...infantry thrown smoke, say 2 counters of +2 smoke, large Dispersed smoke of +2, and OBA FFE?

b) in two hexes, one of infantry thrown smoke 2 counters of +2 each, another with Dispersed smoke of +2, and both hexes of OBA FFE?

Smoke maximum hindrance is +3.
One hindrance is not smoke so gives a +1.
A +4 ( max smoke plus oba)
B +6(max smoke +3, smoke +2 +1 for one even though it is 2 jphexes).

On B, is the Hindrance for the same FFE in both hexes? The limit of +1 is "per FFE."

1.57 FFE LOS HINDRANCE: A HE Concentration (1.7) FFE of ≥ 70mm is considered a two level +1 LOS Hindrance to any LOS traced into, through, within, or from its Blast Area hex(es). This Hindrance DRM never exceeds +1 per FFE, regardless of the number of HE Blast hexes of that concentration it is traced through. For Barrage, see E12.52 and E12.75. See also F11.75

I fear you are missing my (highly unlikely) point. If there were two HE Concentration FFEs of >= 70 mm on the board at the same time, and their blast areas overlap, in the overlapped hexes the FFE LOS Hindrance is +2, not +1.

Yes I was. It is an FFE concentration so two concentrations leads to a +2. As does a barrage.

If the spotter is smoking weed, add a dr to the extent of error when placing an SR.

It might be interesting to note the maximum hindrance from any number of smoke counters in a Location is +3 (+4 for outgoing), per A24.2, 4th sentence.

The only time an OBA concentration of FFE (vs harassing fire which gives no hindrance) has a +1 in EACH hex is in a desert scenario where dust could exist. Otherwise, as mentioned above by others.
