What is to be done on the " must see a ground level ( AR , SR etc) in RB, RO CG ??

This is virtually impossible:

Case A: Outside the factory
Can only see outside wall of factory, if SR/ FFE goes INTO the factory LOS is lost.

Case B: Inside factory
Very limited view of ground locations and accuracy next to impossible.
Result seeA (LOS lost)

Virtually NO CHANCE to see into the interior of most factories, thus making a mockery of the whole battle in Stalingrad......

This is about WHAT - regardless of rules - would make a "working model" of something that would at least approximate common sense...

This would include: - please add

seeing the blast height rather than the base level (reasons above)

possibly using height in some way as a "marker" making high buildings easier to hit,

Using off board observer rules for all OBA

Possibly using aerial rules for all OBA

The direction is to facilitate OBA in factory areas NOT negate them.

Many thanks, be very interested in anyone who has "experience" in this matter.

If the SR/FFE goes into the factory the module is not lost, the blast height is 2 levels above the base level (usually level 1 in RB) (C1.32) so you can usually see the SR/FFE without too much difficulty. Now if the enemy units are up front protecting the street, you can correct the OBA to where they are. If they hide back inside the factory, your OBA has scared them enough that you can move into the street, then advance into the factory.

Remember that you as a player can see much more than the radio operator/observer and know much more about your enemy's defenses.

From someone who has played the RB CG and many other CGs.

It's where you want to correct it is the problem, frequently where no los to the base or more likely altogether

Interior of any factory us a BIG problem and putting radios on rooftops is not generally a good idea.

I totally agree with you, this has recently come up in our Manila game for some of the larger multi-hex buildings... It sure would be nice to put that pre-reg right in the middle of the building... but you can't :(

I have been working on a model , the main part is only blast Hight is needed for LOS.
It is not necessary to see any units but if lands in only enemy ? Units a 2nd chit draw is needed

OBA that lands in factory by radio will require observer to be in the factory .

This is being tested .

Also other rule change , chit pile only cancels OBA on 3rd chit . Oh it also runs out the day it is used, no keeping ..

Further to the updates to OBA Mk 456

1) LOS only needed to blast height

Chit draw:

NO LONGER return red chits to the pile.

OBA only ends on third red chit (or at end of day)

The probabilities change with red chit in the positive. (Fewer red in the pile)

Positive: Hopefully a longer run of OBA

Negative: Using against only ? targets is much more problematic as it can occur that if it is a red it is NOT returned to the pile.
So apart from losing that mission the addition of red chit draws is a "sudden death" way lose your OBA. In RB the Russians should only try this once, the German 2..

In 1, this means that OBA in a factory must be by a operator in that factory or observation plane or in some cases by an off-board observer.

Lastly, Russian pile draw (typically 5/2) means they will have probably not more than 2 mission unless they use pre - des for extra black chits.

Using this method removes the OBA on the day it is used. There is no keeping OBA...
