Does a platoon of AFV's using Platoon Movement take 1 Bog check as a whole for the Platoon upon entering Mud, or 1 Bog Check for each AFV in the platoon? Or some other answer, like Bog check on each mud hex entered?

8.23 MUD & DEEP SNOW: When scenario Weather (E3) is "Mud" or "Deep Snow", a vehicle [EXC: Motorcycle; 15.47] must chance a Bog DR whenever it enters a hex or hexside without benefit of a paved/plowed road/runway hexside.

14.21 MECHANICS OF MOVEMENT: If ≥ one AFV in the same platoon is subject to Bog/Mechanical-Reliability/Stall DR, only one DR per condition is made for the platoon at the end of the Impulse, before any attacks (14.32). If Bog/Immobilization occurs, Random Selection is then used—but only among the AFV that would normally have been Bogged/Immobilized by that Final DR (with different DRM potentially applying to different AFV).

The first D8.23 rule says "a vehicle" while later rule D14.21 says the platoon. It's not critical to game being played (AP131 Crickets in Spring) but does seem a clever way to reduce the number of otherwise required Bog checks.

When using Platoon movement and Bog is possible make 1 Bog if any vehicle enters anew hex/hexside on that impulse, then for each vehicle that entered a new hex/hexside determine if that vehicle might Bog given the DR (so a vehicle that delayed can't Bog). If the total DR (including all DRM for that vehicle) is 12 or more for any vehicle that could Bog some does Bog, Use RS to determine which vehicle actually does Bog if more than 1 vehicle has a total DR of 12 or more.

Let's use an example - say a platoon of two identical AFV's enter mud on the first impulse. We then take one Bog Check using Random Selection to determine which AFV, if any, bogs? Second impulse, same AFV's enter mud again, take another Bog check? And so on for each hex entered where bog is possible?

I believe, based on D8.23, that you only make 1 bog check for mud per MPh. Not sure if you would make a new roll when an AFV enters a mud hex for the first time, or just 1 for the entire platoon and use RS to figure out which AFV is subject the secret hex dr.

Mud bog checks are done with a big roll and a Dr for when it might bog. If the roll is high enough then once they spent the dr number of hexes in bog terrain, they bog.
Say you roll 5, as soon as any vehicle in the platoon enters the fifth bog hex, it bogs. If more than one does this then RS to see which is affected.
