Nor'easter XXIII: March 21st - March 24th 2019
The dust is just settling from Nor'easter XXII and normally we would let everyone relax for the summer but the Nor'easter is changing venues so we want to give everyone an early heads up. Nor'easter XXIII will be held at the Hampton Inn New Bedford/Fairhaven hotel in Fairhaven, MA. The dates are March 21st - March 24th 2019. Let's break in a new place and show everyone what a class act ASL players are. Full description and details below:
The ASL Nor'easter is New England's regional ASL championships. It is held annually near Boston, MA. It is a yearly get-together of people in the New England area that play Advanced Squad Leader (ASL). The Nor'easter is hosted and directed by the boys from The Bunker and the Yankee ASL Group.
Visitors are very welcome, and you'll probably be able to play a game if you want to learn. Have a look at the archived web sites for previous Nor'easters (http://www.yankeegamers.org/noreaster/index.php) to see what the event is like.
Doors open at 10AM EDT on Thursday March 21st and close at 6PM EDT on Sunday March 24th (or when the State Troopers throw us out) with 24-hour access to the gaming rooms. The Thursday game play is open gaming, with the main and mini-tournaments (with the exception of the MoFo) beginning on Friday. The MoFo, due to the scenario size, kicks off on Thursday.
To be matched with a particular opponent in Round one of the Main Tourney or for open gaming on Thursday, or the SK event, please contact us directly by email at Chnogueira@aol.com or through our group, (preferred) yasl@yahoogroups.com. For SK match-ups to be pre-scheduled, please contact mhabrams@comcast.net. In all other instances, players will be matched as they arrive.
Thursday: Open gaming all day. This is a great opportunity to knock off that big scenario you have been giving the eyeball for a while, but have not had time to play.
All players from beginners to experts are encouraged to play, and the emphasis is on having fun. All attendees are automatically entered into a random drawing for fabulous door prizes.
The Nor'easter is Starter Kit (SK) and new ASL player friendly. Mitch Abrams will be the main point of contact on Friday and Saturday to make sure new players and SK players get assistance in finding games against opponents. Tournament Director Carl Nogueira will assist Mitch to this end and also be the main point of contact for both Thursday and Sunday.
Please contact either Mitch (mhabrams@comcast.net) or Carl (chnogueira@aol.com), for more details. It is always recommended that new players notify us of their intention to come so that we can have some matches in place prior to their arrival. That said, if you don't know until the last minute, still come on down, we will work something out to get you gaming!
The main tournament (Tournament Director Carl Nogueira) is 5 rounds (Friday mini players are included in the main tournament) over 3 days and there are also 3 "minis". The Friday mini and Saturday mini are perfect for those who can only make it for 1 day. There is also the (in)famous Mo Fo mini which spans all 4 days. Don't forget, there are prizes galore and a great raffle too!
