Hi Everyone. We are expanding our support for Starter Kit players at the Nor'easter so we thought we would post in the Starter Kit forum to help get the word out. :) First some general info.

The Nor'easter is New England's regional ASL championships. It is held annually near Boston, MA. It is a yearly get-together of people in the New England area that play Advanced Squad Leader (ASL). The Nor'easter is hosted and directed by the boys from The Bunker (of Dispatches from the Bunker fame) and the Yankee ASL Group.

Visitors are very welcome, and you will probably be able to play a game if you want to learn. Have a look at the archived web sites for previous Nor'easters (http://www.yankeegamers.org/noreaster/index.php) to see what the event is like.

The Nor'easter will start at 1000 EDT (1400 Zulu) on Thursday March 21st 2019 and go until 1800 (2200 Zulu) EDT on Sunday March 24th 2019, with 24-hour access to the gaming rooms. The Thursday game play is open gaming and the main full ASL tournament and minis start on Friday/Saturday.

Now, that being said, we will have open gaming for ASL Starter Kit through all 4 days of Nor'easter XXIII. This is open gaming format and not a tournament. That is what people want so we will deliver. :) Mitch Abrams will return as the SK master of ceremonies and will work out match-ups, scenario suggestions and assist with rules questions. We have plenty of room and extra kits available so everyone will get a chance to play. Just bring yourself. :) We have SK resources available at http://www.yankeegamers.org/downloadables.php.

So if you're a Starter Kit player and you want to make new friends (or even see some old ones), please consider dropping by Nor'easter XXIII. Now to the full details.

Full information is always available at https://www.yankeegamers.org/noreaster/noreaster2019.php

NEW LOCATION!!

After many years in Boxborough, MA we have changed venue to Hampton Inn New Bedford/Fairhaven hotel at 1 Hampton Way, Fairhaven, MA. Put the address into GPS and you will find it fast. :) Fairhaven is a great town and this will be a great venue for us for years to come.
.
Battleship Cove "field trip"

On Wednesday, 3/20/19 this year, we have a special treat where the Nor'easter will pick up the tab of admission for any pre-registered, paid Nor'Easter attendees to visit the Battleship Massachusetts in Battleship Cove Fall River. Details can be read here: Battleship Cove. Just check the box when you signup - and contact Carl Nogueira to make it happen. We are all WW2 buffs and despite the fact ASL is a land based game, we all respect the US Navy. Battleship Cove is dripping with WW2 US Navy history. Please check it out if you can. The web site is at http://battleshipcove.org/

Okay, that is the latest information. Keep reading for the full details of this great tournament. Please let us know if you have any questions (email, PM, whatever is easier).

Nor'easter XXIII will be held at the Hampton Inn New Bedford/Fairhaven hotel in Fairhaven, MA. The dates are March 21st - March 24th 2019. Let's break in a new place and show everyone what a class act ASL players are. Full description and details be

All players from beginners to experts are encouraged to play, and the emphasis is on having fun. All attendees are automatically entered into a random drawing for fabulous door prizes.

The Nor'easter is Starter Kit (SK) and new ASL player friendly. Mitch Abrams will be the main point of contact on Friday and Saturday to make sure new players and SK players get assistance in finding games against opponents. Tournament Director Carl Nogueira will assist Mitch to this end and also be the main point of contact for both Thursday and Sunday.

Please contact either Mitch (mhabrams@comcast.net) or Carl (chnogueira@aol.com), for more details. It is always recommended that new players notify us of their intention to come so that we can have some matches in place prior to their arrival. That said, if you don't know until the last minute, still come on down, we will work something out to get you gaming!

Special Student Rate

In the interest of promoting ASL & ASLSK, the Yankee ASL leadership, sponsors of the Nor'Easter ASL Convention (the ASL Tournament / Nor'Easter Starter Group), has decided to offer Junior High and High School students the opportunity to participate in the Convention for a fee of $5.

Those students that want to participate must sign up prior to the event by 03 Mar 2019 and check whether they will participate in the ASL
Tournament or the Starter Group. The $5 is a flat fee and can be used for the full event or just one day of the event.

We believe this will allow students to participate without the financial burden and full cost of the convention.

Starter Kit Players are Welcome!

Gentlemen

Just wanted to add my complete support for the post above. :) I have had the pleasure to see the ASLSK portion of the Nor'easter grow over the last few years and have allot of fun playing in it as well. (BIG thank you to Mitch, Michael & Carl for this!!)

Beside some cool play testing scenarios, I may have a few surprises for the attendees this year!!

Thanks!
Joe
