We are pleased to announce added support for Starter Kit (SK) at Nor'easter XXI.

Mitch Abrams has graciously volunteered to act as the SK point of contact on Friday and Saturday of Nor'easter XXI (Mar 31st and Apr 1st). Mitch will be responsible for getting SK players matched up, answering questions and be the general SK advocate. Of course SK games will still be available on Thursday and Sunday and our tournament director, Carl and the rest of the Nor'easter crew, will handle those matchups as usual.

While SK players have always been welcome at the Nor'easter we hope to attract more SK players by expanding our support. A big thank you goes out to Mitch for volunteering to coordinate this support.

Also, Carl is in contact with Patrick Ireland who is famous in the SK world as the great "teacher of SK". While Patrick is unable to attend Nor'easter XXI personally, we hope to gain some resources from him and possibly sessions over Skype. The details are still being worked out so stay tuned.

SK is becoming a bigger part of our hobby and by adding more support for it we hope to attract more players to the Nor'easter overall and expand the reach of our fantastic hobby. So come one, come all to Nor'easter XXI!

Hi everyone - with Nor'Easter now a scant two months away, I'd like to make a final pitch for participants in the Mo'Fo. We have 5 and could use at least one more British player and ideally 3 more to round out the sides at 4 apiece. Boards and overlays will be provided, all you need are your troops and the guts to take on a monster of monsters!

Mmmm. Is that the smell of pine tar? Yes, football season is over and baseball is around the corner. But before opening day of the MLB is the 21st annual Nor'easter! We are less than 2 months away and have a great crowd so far, but still plenty of room. As Chuck mentioned, we are still looking for 1-3 more players for an absolutely epic Mo'Fo and the more the merrier for the main tournament. I also want to give a big mention to the added support for Starter Kit this year with Mitch Abrams acting as our SK coordinator. So if you are a SK player and want to play someone new, come to the Nor'easter this year!

It is now March and only 27 days to Nor'easter XXI. It is true that the per-registration rates are now gone. But, one can still sign up to come to one of the premier ASL tournaments in the Northeast US. There is a lot to offer:

  • The 21 year old main tournament (http://asl.yankeegamers.org/noreaster/noreasterRules.php) where some of the best players in the world compete.
  • A Friday mini and a Saturday mini, which are both full, but fun to watch. Sign up early next year!
  • Major support for ASL Starter Kit with Mitch Abrams as MC to match up SK players and provide support.
  • A massive team MoFo over 4 days recreating D-Day (still room!)
  • A realtime demonstration of MASL (a strategic level to ASL) in which you can actually play too.
  • The release of Dispatches from the Bunker XX which includes the Rees Germany HASL by Tom Morin.
That is a lot of ASL action in 4 days. There is still plenty of time and room to join us. Head on over to Yankee Gamers (http://asl.yankeegamers.org/noreaster/noreaster2017.php) to sign up.

The rate is $45 for the weekend or $25/day. Nor'easter XXI happens in Boxborough, MA at the Boxborough Regency (http://www.boxbororegency.com/); about 15 miles west of Boston. If you are flying in, contact Carl Nogueira at Chnogueira@aol.com to arrange for a ride from Logan Airport in Boston. See the hotel link for accommodation information.

Ok Guys. I am pretty tired from TDing and some fairly impressive sleep deprivation, so this will be the short, here are the results post. A better, more comprehensive post will follow on the morrow.

The placement of the top 4 in the Main tournament was as follows:
Brian Wiersma finished first in the main tournament to win his first main tournament at Noreaster. Congratulations Brian!!
2nd Ron Duenskie
3rd Gary Mei
4th Paul Chamberland

In the Friday Mini
Brian "Dr. Death" Sullivan emerged the winner

In the Saturday Mini
Dan Plachta came away with the three round W

In the Big MoFo the team of Mark Kolenski and Robert "Kedge" Johnson piloted the British side to victory.

Congratulations to all our winners and those who placed well.

It was a great tourney with 52 attendees and despite having most of my time tied up TDing, I did manage to get in memorable games against Gary Mei ( Squeaked out a win in Kozina Klash as the Poles) and Mark Evans (Fun game of Ninth Tanks, winning as the Americans and getting a chance to coin the phrase conscript whisperer, as regards a HS who ambushed a Japanese conscript, captured it and promptly released it, in a catch and release program move. It was a hoot.)

Great time had by all it appeared and several new faces attended and we certainly hope will attend again in the future. Thanks to Mike Allexenberg, Mike Sprague, Ralph MacDonald, Bruce Carson, Chuck Tweksbury, Joe Gochinski, Mitch Abrams and everyone who keeps the Nor'Easter rolling year in and year out.

Mitch Abrams ran a two day SK event that saw three new players play for two days and pick up a great deal of valuable learning. So kudos to Mitch for this great innovative addition to the tourney.

A better, more detailed summary tomorrow as time permits. Finally, thanks to everyone who came out and helped make the 21st a success.

Hi all,

Left at NorEaster near the MoFo table:

Chapter H in page protectors in a large white binder. Binder kinda falling apart.

Binder has "2001 Budget" on side of it.

Anyone missing it?
