I sent Lutzow, and Seydelitz on a raid in to the Atlantic, hoping to destroy the two AMS that had been preying on my merchants. This cruise almost ended in disaster for my ships, a battle sawned and I found both my ships almost trapped in a bay in the north of the british isles, the british heavies were out in deep water, only my speed allowed me to escape. I was tailed by a lone DD, for hours, he finally gave up the chase, and with night approaching I reversed course hoping to bag some scouts or AC's.
I did indeed find two AC's Donegal, and Cochrane, it really was an uneven contest I targetted Cochrane first with both my ships and as the AM's attempted to flee they presented a perfect borad side target to me, within 2 minutes Chochrane's speed was cut from 19 to 16 knots and fire burned abaft her bridge on the starboard side, I shifted fire to Donegal who was making 21 knots.
I hit her with my first salvos, a shell tore through her bow at the waterline, and fire broke out on her starboard deck. Chochrane's speed was now down to 13 knots, meanwhile Donegal's fires now spread along along her deck and behind her bridge and her speed dropped to 16 knots
I shifted fire again to the mortally wounded Donegal, who's speed was now 11 knots, my first salvo set of her magazines and she was gone. Cochrane was also now sinking, I ceased fire and headed towards home, but ran in to what I think was part of the escorts for the British heavies that had chased me earlier my guns mad short work of the Dd's Ophellia, Relentless, Nizam, FL Ithuriel,
CL's Blanche, Calliope, Comus, Carysfort, and Caroline.
All in all not a bad days work for my BC's.
