What?
A new UK 'tournament'. Well, not so much new, more a replacement for Intensive Fire, sadly now no longer with us.

When?
We have two options. 22nd November-25th November, or 29th November-2nd December.

Where?
The Headlands Hotel in sunny Blackpool. Fantastic food. Fantastic staff. Secure gaming area. Separate dining areas (games can be left setup). On site bar. Ticks all our boxes. Discounted room rates (c£40 BnB per night...to be confirmed).

Cost?
£15 entry cost. But we'll offer an early bird option of £10 if you would opt to pay prior to end of July.

Format?
The main event and tournament, running from Friday morning, kindly sponsored by Bounding Fire Publications (blind scenarios.... NEVER PLAYED BEFORE !!). Different. unique. A new concept. The ultimate ASL challenge !
A varied set of 'minis' throughout the week/weekend kindly sponsored by Battleschool dice. The usual style (multi scenario choices, themed groups).
Free gaming throughout the entire long weekend of course if formalised tournaments are not your cup of tea.

Prizes?
Oh god yes. Lots.

Interested?
Well, I'm looking to get an angle on numbers. Confirmation of who can attend? What date(s) you can attend so that we can formalise the booking of the hotel.

Await your responses so that I can put more flesh on the bones.

Thanks and regards

Martin,

Hello and good luck with the tournament.

May I suggest that your BLACKPOOL tournament consider my
scenario CH 97, Final Crisis at Blackpool for one of the mini's.
it's a British Commonwealth vs Japanese scenario set in Burma.
It has been included in a number of tournaments with rave reviews.
It is currently 24-25 on ROAR with a 7.06 rating. Most games come
down to the final phase of the final turn and many players have
enjoyed it immensely ...AND...it's got BLACKPOOL in it's name!
I can send the scenario card...with official errata on it...if you like.

Thanks for your consideration.

This is indeed a very nice idea.

And I can attest that this scenario is a lot of fun to play. IMHO it very finely captures the atmostphere of PTO toiling up a steep ridge and to get drawn into fighting that gets very close and personal.

IIRC I wrote an AAR on this scenario here in the forum some time ago.

Edit:
Found it.

I will post your message on to Simon Staniforth who is organising the mini tournaments. It would fit into one of his themes. But I seem to very vaguely recall that I have seen the scenario before and I think it may have been at Blackpool earlier this year (Heroes tournament). No reason not to feature it again, and perhaps to push it a little more but not my final decision.

Martin,

Thanks. Here's the scenario card with errata included in SSR's

I simply love that they used Blackpool as the code name. I imagine it was based on THE Blackpool we're talking about here. That is, whilst now often a target of riducule and mockery, back in the 1930s/1940s, it would have been THE Premier British holiday destination.

I love it....and I will be playing it at Blackpool even if it's not in the tournament (which I will push for it's addition!)

Thanks very much! Remember...no Smoke of any kind in the rain
and climbing is difficult, requiring cx and/or causing it.
Sounds like the Blackpool I know. SMC's may only move at night in pairs, preferably stacked with a squad, +2 to the straying roll and roll for ambush if straying occurs. HtH is in effect.
