Do you consider this complete or are you looking for feedback or an AAR?

CV Duel review

I have heard about men of few words but I think that you are taking even that to the extreme. ;)

I ran through it and was able to win in pretty quick order. Nice to see a battle on the other side of the world.

Observations and recommendations:

1) I think that more than a single line for operational orders can be fairly expected. No intell? No SitRep? How about some background on your new units?

2) It’s purely cosmetic, but you might consider closing some of your multiple maps as they don’t seem to serve any purpose.

3) Your escorts have no helos. Is this intentional?

4) Skipper IIs on Intruders do not launch. Target not illuminated regardless of what I do in regards to Alt, speed,…

5) The ATL are easily killed. They come out singly and with Radar active. They are easily detected and destroyed. Any jamming support?

6) The fixed air defences appear to be pretty ineffective. One flight flew right over them on Espiritu Santo without any effect.

7) The AI groups are all bunched together. You might want to set some Patrol Zones for the escorts. Also, you might set out some Helo ASW zones. I didn’t see any helos aloft.

8) How about some AEW element for the Clemenceau?

9) Any neutral fishing boats about? Since Auckland is a sailing mecca, there might be quite a few boats around to cloud judgment.

10) The large number of player units makes this scenario like shooting fish in a barrel. You could eliminate the land base and both submarines and the player would still have an easy time, IMO. If you further reduce the air group to one third of that currently available, then it would be very challenging.

11) How about a time limit to force the player to move quickly?

12) How about stretching out his resources? Give him a distant unit that he simply must protect (like my suggestion in The Run). You could insert a ship (QE2?) that the CV is quickly closing upon and about to fire. Put the ship on another side friendly to the player so that the player must protect it but cannot control it.

I hope that these comments are helpful and not hurtful. Thanks for putting it together.
