This is the first iteration of a project I hope to hone into a solid
two-player scenario. Right now, the scenario has not been playtested.
Post any comments or suggestions here at this thread.

Info;
Location; Red Storm Rising is currently avaliable in the Files section of the Yahoo Group for DA. Register to download it.
Download instructions; download and extract the zipped scenario file
into the scenario folder of DA.

Map File; Right now, the map file is just a shade over the 10mg
ceiling for Yahoo transfer files. Email me at thekossack@...
and I will send the map via a gmail account. The map file "ngp15.jpg"
must be extracted to the Map folder of DA, AND MUST BE CONVERTED TO
BMP format for the scenario to accept (early design decision I now
regret).

Scenario Info;
Map - The map covers the entire north German plain, roughly 300x250km,
extending down to the Hartz mts. There are numerous rivers, canals,
and bridges dotting an occasionally swampy or forested countryside.
Urban areas dot the map, and most constitute the OBJs.

Forces - The Soviets field 16 divisions, broken down into manuever
brigades, with supporting battalions. Three divisions are Air
Assault, three are East German or Polish (with inferior abilities).
The Reds have decent FA support at Army Group and Supreme HQ levels.
Opposed to them are 8 NATO divisions - 5 german, two British, and one
US. Each NATO div has at least one Brigade broken down into
battalions (for greater command flexibility). NATO support includes
ad hoc AT and Recon units, MRLS, AH, and engineers.

AI - There is none for this version, and due to map scope, the AI
would probably have a nervous breakdown.

Game Version - I trid to make this scenario playable for either 2.04
or 2.7. Because of its size, using the auto Supply feature in 2.04
might be nice. Unit totals are about 150 per side, so hopefully with
some attaching, supply convoys won't crash the game. I also included
Bomber numbers for the earlier versions.

House rules -
I have included a number of House Rules, the most important of which
is HQ use. In the scenario, the Reds have only 3 HQs, Blue 4. The
idea is that locating these scarce HQs and choosing their subordinates
will force hard decisions on players on where forces will operate
well, and where they will...suck. This necessitates rules that try to
prevent HQs from actually dying, instead using "displacement rules" to
retreat them (a design used in many board wargames).
Other minor house rules are also included to enhance gameplay, and can
be found in the OPORD files.

Why don't you post the files here ? Or with HPS ? I signed up for Yahoo user group but frankly I hate Yahooing. The height of frustratia! Just a thought.

I would appreciate a copy of the map file. Here's my email: gcriflesmithing@alaska.net
