Howdy; someone else told me about this place and I figured I could do worse than hang around some fellow ASLers.

I've already played my first game on VASL. And I don't even have a starterkit or the ASLRB yet! (I lost, by the way.)A lot of players are forced to either play ASL on the internet via VASL or play solo. But it is still ASL!
Not much ftf: I try to get in as much VASL as I can, though. Not quite as good as ftf, but pretty close and a lot easier to leave the game 'in progress'.Honza said:Do you play much yourself?
Hi there Rich, welcome to GS forums. You an ASLer?Greetings to all - Rich from NJ here...........
I *think* Steve Flicker is also from Connecticut... somebody correct me if I'm wrong.Hi All,
I'm new to responding on the forum but I have know about it for a few months. I've been into asl for a long time my father played so as I was growing up I played ( maybe not the right way but...) as well. One of the first games I played was using a coffee can full of squad leader counters with boards 1-4 and making up my own rules was alot of fun back then. I think its the greatest game ever made. I live in connecticut and unfortunatly there arn't too many people in ct that play other then Mr. Pleva who I've never met but have heard about through the bunker up in mass. I've been to a couple bunker bashes including this year which was alot of fun but over an hour away. I also enjoy designing scenarios , which I love. My ultimate goal is to have one of them published. How that would happen I don't know I don't have alot of experience playing ftf but the times I have have been so much fun. Feel free to drop me a line.
Norm
Sorry for the late-arriving post. Welcome to the nuthouse, I mean, the forums! Lots to see and learn here. There are several ASL players and at least one group in Holland that I know of. You might contact Hennie Van der Salm via email or PM (go to Members and search for his name). He put me in touch with someone so my brother-in-law in Dordrecht could find someone to teach him ASLSK's. BTW - we were in the Netherlands back in March...had a blast, but temps in the 20's and 30's, snow, freezing rain and that wind coming off the North Sea was brutal. Next time, it's in the summer baby!I've already played my first game on VASL. And I don't even have a starterkit or the ASLRB yet! (I lost, by the way.)
Welcome David. Sounds like you've been bitten by the ASL bug. Happens to all of us. Have some fun here. These forums can be a great source of info on the game, its rules, tactics and tips. And there is a large community of very friendly people here to support your habit. (However, with every community comes some friction. Don't be turned off by the constant sniping that happens between some of the forum regulars. You'll learn to ignore most of it.)Hi, I'm David from Manchester, England. I've recently got hooked on the hobby through a friend when he made me play a starter kit 2 scenario at our regular gaming sessions! Having spent the previous year saying I don't like complicated games, so definitely no Advanced Squad Leader, I was surprised to discover I enjoyed it. Since then I've bought SKs 2 and 3, the rulebook, Yanks, Croix de Guerre and AP3, and played scenarios from all of them. I have just played the first two scenarios from Spanish Fury, which I enjoyed. As always with a new obsession I research heavily into it via the internet, and discovered this forum, so I thought I would join. So hello again everybody!
Good advice - and as I often am involved in such crossfires, I would say that it remains a marginal phenomenon... and only a handfull of guys here do indulge in such duels. However, with every community comes some friction. Don't be turned off by the constant sniping that happens between some of the forum regulars. You'll learn to ignore most of it.
Hy Dale !Hey folks. I've got a shelf full of games, and a bunch of friends with even more than I have. So a buddy directed me here.
Howdy.
