Seeing the Apocalypse Now soundtrack on your list reminded me of the water skiing scene, which took me to Devo's cover, and then this snippet from The New Yorker:

First heard Devo in late '78 or early '79. Was attending Kent State and saw the Zappa film 200 Motels was going to be shown at the Kiva. Being a big Zappa fan I went to see the movie. Prior to the movie they showed some shorts which included a couple music videos by Devo. One of them was Jocko Homo. Went home after the movie but couldn't get one part of that song out of my mind. It kept just cycling through my brain. Next day I went to the record store and bought Are We Not Men? That was it, Actiondebbie and I both were hooked!

I can also recommend Be Stiff by Devo. An early import album from Great Britain. Very garage band. Only about six tracks but worth checking out.

Not listening right now, but ordered 4CD limited edition soundtrack for "The Thin Red Line", besides that music from "HBO Band of Brothers" and from "HBO The Pacific".

Also a fan of the B-52s, their early stuff. Part of my new wave/punk phase as Zappa was, IMHO, on the decline.

For some reason the early music of mostly all the groups I listen to appeals to me more than later offerings. The Beatles and Doors being the exceptions that spring to mind.
Funny thinking about it the same for ASL.🤔🤔 That is the earlier scenarios and modules.

Btw very much enjoy reading your playlist. Please continue. 😊

Agreed, I'm surprised when I find myself preferring the latter work of a musician's repertoire, for example Cocteau Twins. With many artists it seems that burst of creativity can die down after the initial phase, I've also noted that with cartoonists as well.

Some cartoonists knew when to bow out while on top, Watterson and Larson are two.

Devo Day in Akron by Mayor's proclamation!

Listening to Are We Not Men and Duty Now For the Future.

Actiondebbie rocking out adding song after song to her play lists on Alexa. Lol she's been listening to too much tiki music. Needs Devo to get the blood flowing.

Btw quite like the tiki music myself!🤗🤗

Rumble by Link Wray

Apparently the only instrumental to be banned by some American radio stations. The title was considered too provocative by some back in the 1950's.

The Dubliners are beyond any competition, but I'm really fond of Sinnead's version. Sad thing that such a talented and gifted person is so... troubled...
