That thing has gone viral...pretty tired of it now, although the Star Trek parody on youtube was pretty funny.

Listening to a Japanese band called "The Pillows". And yes, I found out about these guys because of an anime called "Fooly Cooly" :p

Joe Walsh - The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get. I never really listened to this album until recently. Little did I know what I'd been missing. This is a great album.

scored a ton of old jazz lp's at an antique store and after copying from vinyl to mp3 & am wading through. found some other stuff that ties into periodic projects. just finished round 1 of work on a 2 cd mix of downtempo stuff that is all framed around a re-mixed version of the KLF's 'chill out' that i found on the interwebs. got a couple more takes on this before it is done.
the new gil scott heron is really good.
am very, very impressed with the new laura viers album. nick drake meets liz phair.
was disappointed with the new massive attack.
just snagged peter gabriels' new one but haven't listened to, working too much and when not working working too much on other things.
finished a three hour mix of mashups made by other folks (threw in one i made, too) that i called 'one flew over the cuckoo's mix.' remixed all of last year's pet shop boys album and made it into a 2 cd set with the b-sides and called it 'yes, no, maybe'.
bought season 1 of costello's 'spectacle' show from sundance channel and am really enjoying watching that and cannot recommend it enough. i love oral history and it is great watching people who genuinely love what they do (generally) talking very articulately about it.

I saw that tour. :thumup::thumup:

I remember goin' to a party just after this was released. The owner had about $5000-$10,000 in his stereo set-up(a $1000 rig in the 70s was awesome) and had the volume "turned to 11" for Rocky Mountain Way. Totally awesome!!!!! ...or was it the mescaline? :nuts:

That's a great album for headphones and/or loud on a good stereo.
May I suggest, Barnstorm? It was released prior to TSYDTPYG and has some good stuff on it.

Best version of Turn To Stone is on Barnstorm(crank it up at the fade out for some real good guitar).
Joe used to play up the street in the very late 60s/early 70s.

I've been on a Donavan kick lately learning;
Wear Your Love Like Heaven
Lelena(my bandmate owns a Record store and was Listening to D's Greatest Hits for any defects and wrote down the chords. Hurdy Gurdyman is on the back-burner)
and this version of Catch The Wind

Yes, Barnstorm is a good one too. That is a new one to me, too. I wish I'd listened to those two albums years ago. I like both versions of "Turn to Stone." The one on Barnstorm is much more raw, which I like. Obviously this was a very productive time for him because I recently read that the song "Life of Illusion" off of There Goes the Neighborhood which was released in the early 80's was written during the Barnstorm session.

Lately I've been into The Moody Blues album "To Our Children's Children's Children." Gotta love Mike Pinder's mellotron. :cool:

Anyone ever hear of a band called Godspeed You Black Emperor? They're very... different. I'm listening to a song of theirs called The Dead Flag Blues now.

Yeah, I've listened to them a bit. I'm not that big a fan, though. I find their music to be a bit pretentious. What is more, the band seems to be made up of a bunch of anarchists. :D I much prefer Fly Pan Am or Helios.
