If your opponent attempts to move into a hex where you have HIP units, what happens? Can you let him walk past and shoot him in the back? Must you reveal a unit? Would that knock him back or can you engage him in CC?

I see the part about HIP units in A11.19 but I think that only applies in CCPh, not MPh.

Need some guidance as it may come up soon.

Since HIP is a form of concealment (A12.3), all the standard concealment rules apply. Namely, Detection (A12.15).

When he moved into your hex, you'd have to reveal (process given) at least one unbroken unit to force a bounce back to his previous hex. Then you can shoot at him with FFMO/FFNAM.

On the other hand, if he advanced into that hex you could retain concealment and then engage in the (required) CC with some good drms and a high chance of ambush in your favor.

But still lose HIP status - thus becoming a "?" covered unit...

Hello Gentlemen

Japanese may in some cases keep HIP even i a unit moves into the hex but I guess that was not what the question was about but important to remember nonetheless.

Yes, exactly what I was trying to say! ;)
Yes, I am sure it was.
I just thought that, as HIP can be considered as a form of concealment, a little more precision would make things clearer.
No offence intended. ;)

I quite agree. And no offence taken either! :cheeky:

In the end I decided to Advance out into melee and go for ambush (which I got) since I would only bounce him back into a +3 TEM stone building and that doesn't seem like a very good shot.

>So he didn't end up entering your hex then, Zoltan?

Didn't give him the chance. I was toying with the idea of letting him in his turn (it was my MPh) but the odds seemed to favor just going and getting him this turn.

Ah, I understand now. I was thinking... if your opponent was thinking about moving into your hex (how I read your original question), then how did you get to advance (I'm thinking it's his turn). But I see it was just hypothetical in case you stayed put and waited. Makes perfect sense now! :)
