We could not find anything clear in the rules on this one.

If the OOB has motorcycles (D15) can some be exchanged for motorcycles with sidecars? In this case it would allow the portage of SW.

We played it as it is not allowed, but had no rules reference.

Based on D15.1 I think you played it right. They're different types of vehicles. Sidecars with PP capacity and Cycles without.

PIF scenario (s) list the exchange by SSR so I would say no- Polish Panzerjaegers for one

yeah, it just seemed a little screwy in the scenario.
Well, all the SW can be ported by the Cavalry in this scenario, so what's wrong here? Sure, it would be easier to port the SW on sidecars to get a bit further along, but it's not as if they need to be left in the dust, either.

If D15.1 weren't convincing enough, it's evident from H1.45 that sidecars and motorcycles are not equivalent. On the basis of exchange logic, one might as well ask if they could substitute 467s for 468s in a scenario, because there is no rule that can be found to prohibit such.

This is not an issue of something's wrong. It was issue if I could split some of the SW to the non-elite units. It is a tactical question, to see if something was legal or not.

Right. Well it would be fanciful to allow the exchange on the basis of DYO points. For for example. trade in some 467s for some 468s, 7 for 5. Or for motorcycles/sidecars 5 for 4.

It would ruin the historical aspect but make for a fun modification to allow something like this -- adding some unpredictability to this scenarios. Plus a lot simpler than coming up with a DYO from scratch!

cheers!
