Modifiers for a mortar shot vs AFV and infantry using armored assault in OG [simplified]
Vs AFV: +2 case J, resolved effect with no DRM per terrain.
Vs Infantry: -1 FFNAM to hit, resolved effect with +1 TEM per AFV protection..

Is this right? I think I’ve always fired with no modifier and no TEM vs infantry.. :( but getting older... ?

That's correct. And if you score a CH, the total mods will be -2 (AFV TEM reversed plus FFNAM).

Better off to have the personnel be riders. If I get the interpretation of the rule correctly (though I don't ascribe wholly to this interpretation), one must get a Hit on the AFV to effect the PRC at all or potentially leave residual in the hex even though the mortar is using the ATT and cannot really specifically target the AFV. It is easier to hit the hex and potentially any effect PRC (see D.8B), if there are Infantry moving with the AFV than if not the case.
