FORMAT

There will be 5 time-limited rounds of action starting on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Each round will have a choice of three scenarios, with scenario substitution possible by mutual player consent and TD approval. At least one choice will require knowledge of only chapters A to D. Each player secretly chooses two scenarios, and then they compare choices to arrive at the scenario they will play. There is more to this and it is explained completely in the Tournament Rules included in the information package.

The Montreal ASL Festival will use a point scoring method to determine the winner at the conclusion of the entire tournament. Players receive points in the following manner: 10 points for each victory; one point for each victory their vanquished opponents achieve during the tournament. For example, after round one, all winners will have ten points. In round two, in a match between two round one winners, the victor will have 21 points.

The tournament director will pair opponents for the first round as he sees fit. He will make the pairings for after the first round by won-loss record.

Due to the scoring method, the winner might have only 4 wins over the five rounds. This is not a single elimination type tournament.

There will be prizes for at least the top two players, depending on attendance and prize contributions. Last year, there were prizes for the top four players. These players will also receive Plaques. As well, there are plaques for best ROF, most two’s and most twelves in the tournament.

FESTIVAL REGISTRATION

The registration fee for both days is seventeen Dollars (American) or twenty-five Dollars (Canadian). The registration fee for one day is half of that. Spectators welcome, at no charge. Pre-registrants for two days will receive tournament information and scenarios before the event. The package will be mailed out no later than the second week of March.
