Everybody, if you do not like the rules you can leave. If you make posts to complain about the rules I will show you the door. You will be permanently banned from Gamesquad. Follow the rules.

So the fifth rule is no complaining about the rules.

Spent all that money to acquire it, and now you'll drive everything that made it what it was away. Well done sir. Well done indeed. -- jim

I think of it more like flushing a full toilet. If getting rid of its contents destroys Gamesquad and everybody leaves, so be it. I do not think that will happen. I think the hundreds of members that are here for talking about games, ASL specifically, will bid their time as the trash is disposed of. Once that is done, the disruptions stop and those who remain will enjoy Gamesquad even more.

Spending money to acquire an asset, a business is always risky. If I didn't have the available funds I would not have made the investment. I have plans for Gamesquad, which the COVID-19 pandemic will have a detrimental effect upon but that's part of business as well. So in my new business patrons arrive and some cause disruptions. Those that do will be asked to leave. If they stay and continue, they will be banned. If a member went into an accountant's office, their favorite restaurant, their place of worship and started acting in this fashion they would be escorted out. If they repeated it, they would be barred entry.

Why do I and the other members here deserve less respect? Do I not have an obligation to remove those who cause disruptions for others?

I and the other members of Gamesquad deserve that respect and if not given by a few members then those members will be removed.

Somebody mentions that 'big boys' could handle it. Let's see if those 'big boys' can obey the new rules as adults would.

That's the nicest way someone has ever called me shit. Congratulations. Does that violate the new terms of service? What if instead of alluding to a flush, I said "wiped away". Is that more offensive?

You don't get "big boys" by treating them like children. As far as following you're new rules, I am sure they won't. They couldn't follow social norms before. I don't know what makes you think they will now. They haven't followed them in this thread. I don't think you could write the rules down if you tried. Good behavior is like pornography. No one can tell you what it is but we all know it when we see it, even if each of our definitions varies person to person. That's why most of the people in the US watched the Super Bowl half-time show and were like "meh" and a smaller group watched it and decried the pornographic nature and the demeaning stereo-types towards women. Good luck. Glad it isn't up to me to read your mind. -- jim

Why thank you, I rewrote it several times, to soften the blow. We can ask the SCOTUS if it is a violation in the future but now is not the time. The point to to be a non-offensive as possible.

If they act like children then that is how they will be treated. If they cannot follow social norms, if they cannot follow these rules and continue to violate them, causing a disruption, they will be ejected from the forum. I have noticed the lack of adherence to the rules in this thread.

I could go on and on because hypocritical behavior always fascinates me. Saying "non-offensive" as possible is an admission it was in fact offensive. Saying you thought about it means you willfully and intentionally made the post know it was. You then go on to threaten to "eject" anyone that can't meet the standard you just violated. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Non est bonum esse regem. Nice quod oportet esse supra praecepta. -- jim

I know of several places you can go to observe hypocritical behavior, even some television and radio programs for hours on end.

I am not going to get into a discussion of your perceptions of my hypocritical behavior during this time. Doing so would not be constructive and would only distract from the goal.

As you so eloquently alluded, it's your toilet. It is good to see you recognize highlighting your own behavior distracts from the standard you're trying to enact. I would run from it too, were I you. -- jim

Yes, it's my 'throne', I want it as clean as I can get it. I understand that I, like everybody else, am imperfect but I try to do as good as I can by striving to follow the sensible rules. I invite all to do the same. If they cannot or refuse to adjust then they will be removed.

Present poster excepted of course. He is free to ignore the standard. After all, the king's robes are the finest in the land. -- jim

You got somebody better in mind?

I think the responsibility, as a businessman, lays on my shoulders to pursue greater civility on this forum. I think it is my responsibility as a human to encourage civil behavior.

Your previous post was one word of profanity. Why did you post it? Enlighten all to its purpose to the conversation.
The word was a common word of profanity in Spanish, which is a lingua franca here in New Mexico. It's meaning in this instance was "Thou art somewhat heavy handed."

I am certain you missed the point of this story, your majesty. -- jim
And what exactly is the point? What is it you're advocating for, exactly? You've been complaining for two days about how expecting civility is hypocrisy, and how convinced you are that civility is impossible to attain. You've tried to make the point with unflattering comparisons between GS and FB. Yet the FB groups are models of civility, which only defeats your argument.

Not sure if Cary is aware of this but the old reputation system on this forum was reset because of you in 2009. The old rep system permitted comments to be attached to individual posts which only the poster could see. Your orchestrated system of abuse included frequent, identical threatening and insulting comments to others, done systematically and for the sole purpose of harassment. It was so over the top, so pointless and so childish Don had to abolish that reputation system.

Your complaint appears to be that you feel you're being treated like a child, yet you proved that left to your own devices, that's exactly how you would behave. Your need to get the last word in this thread unfortunately reinforces that.

I'm certain there is more place here for Cary's good intentions, and a desire for civility, than whatever need or right you think you have to abuse others.

No Michael. It was reset because you whinged about my reaction to your actions. As you noticed you were climbing the reputation ladder, you would negatively rep others so you could climb faster. It was first recognize by Glennbo. He told me he that when you negged him, he would double up the neg on you and you stopped acting like a child. When I was next on the list--not that I cared one whit but it apparently meant something to you--I decided to also one-up your actions so you would move along. I figured you wouldn't enjoy being fed your own dog food. I was right. After all, the reputation system was nothing but a popularity contest and you were far more unpopular than I at the time. -- jim
