How that was ever a game for kids. Way back in the day my little sister took a jart to the leg while she was watching the rest of us play.Jarts?

Life in the 1960s and 70s was just the best! I would amaze my kids when I would tell them about cement playgrounds and games like Jarts. I still remember thinking how much better the "new" asphalt playgrounds were since they were so much "softer" than falling on the concrete. Good times! It was always a race between outgrowing a pair of jeans and destroying them on the playground. God forbid you ripped the knees out of a new pair.How that was ever a game for kids. I believe that they are no longer sold and that there may be some type of restriction listing them for re-sale on a place like eBay.
Then there were these bad boys:

One-year, a very long time ago, we were camping and the kids next to us had a set of Jarts. We played all the time. Then one day the boys were out with the Jarts throwing them as high as they could to see where they would land. The inevitable happened and one of the boys took a glancing blow to the side of his head, lots of blood but nothing too crazy. Those Jarts never came back out, I was bummed.Jarts were awesome! I may still have a set in the attic but I wouldn’t dare use them - aren’t they “banned” now or some such?

Rotterdam does look cool.Posted by Peter, 10/29.
Trying to get this thread back on track:
- ASL Journal 15 will be smaller than the normal Journal, but expect preorder in about 30 days;
- E-HASL and Pocket HASL are nearly done, expecting publication prior to Christmas;
ASL Starter Kit Magazine #1 is projected by Christmas, or by Winter Offensive. Note that Winter Offensive is a week later than usual this year, due to some event or other happening mid-January in the DC area 🙂 ;
- the Ponyri HASL is projected to be ready by Winter Offensive, preorder will be soon;
- Marco Polo Bridge - both full ASL and Starter Kit - should go on preorder by January;
- the Rotterdam HASL should be ready by 3rd quarter 2025. On a recent trip to the Netherlands, some MMP staff walked the Rotterdam HASL map, and were able to talk to many local residents. Plans are for 1-day, 3-day, and 5-day campaign games. There will be new rules for highrises, alleyways, warships, Ju-52s, and float planes;
- Polish Eagles, probably 3rd quarter 2025;
- Twilight of the Reich magazine/journal, 3rd quarter 2025;
- Carpiquet, mid-2025;
- Kursk HASL will use geomorphic boards, 3rd quarter 2025;
- SASL, 3rd quarter 2025.
There are plans to have an ASL tournament at WBC in July. The tournament will require at least 32 players to participate in a 6-round tournament consisting of
double-blind scenarios on existing maps. Players expected to have knowledge of PTO/night/DTO/eastern front/western front rules. Proposed 1st Prize is MMP products for life, 2nd prize is ASL products for life.
Reprints:
Beyond Valor, plus Starter Kits 1, 2, and 3 reprints are in the works, some countersheets are in-house.
Projects farther away - NOTE - I have NO further info on any of these projects:
Kharkov HASL
Contested Lands
Kohima
Fox & The Rats
White Death (Finns)
4 Bridges
Star Leader (ASL meets BattleTech)
Deluxe Stalingrad
Large format ASL - looking into a Paratrooper-like product with larger maps and counters. A current countersheet would need three or four large-format countersheets to cover the same number of counters. May have rounded counters. If the test run goes well, then the entire system could be printed this way.
Second!What, when, and where is Carpiquet? I missed that.
Just like Ortona.Rotterdam is one of those projects that has been around for years and years.
Good things take time like fine wine. At least I tell self that.Rotterdam is one of those projects that has been around for years and years.
Yes.Is the SASL a reprint, update, and/or a consolidation?
