A German tank moves into an American occupied rubble hex and nothing happens during the CC phase
An American unit out side the hex destroys the tank. Is the Squad in the hex still held in Melee until the end of that CC phase or can that squad move during its movement phase if the tank was destroyed in the American prep fire phase or advance during its advance phase if destroyed during the American Advance fire phase.

The general principle seems to be that as soon as there are no longer two sides in the Melee, the Melee ends immediately. This principle is never explicitly stated, so it is possible that there are exceptions, especially with regard to timing. There is another q&a that says that if a vehicle is destroyed but a crew comes out the crew immediately joins and maintains the melee. Escaping prisoners also maintain the melee even if the other enemy unit(s) that started the melee are eliminated.
