Map sizes

It seems to be the season for noob questions from yours truly!!!

In player generated (random?) scenarios and campaigns, can I specify what size map I want to play on, ie make it smaller than the normal default generted map?

I have looked in preferences and found how to change the buy points (thanks DD!), but can't see how to change the map size.

Not in a campaign.

In a generated battle, you can select to play on a Custom map and then you will be prompted to load the map of your choice. If you wish, you can create your own map prior to playing the game and then loading that map as a Custom map or, you could edit one of the maps included with the game and load that map, or you could save a map from some other scenario and then load that map into a generated game.

Be careful when loading Custom maps, though, that you ensure the retreat and reinforcement hexes are on the correct map edge. Getting those to work properly if they do not work first time, takes a little effort and may be something you will work up to- with experience.
