Can light mortars be fired from buildings?

Can they be fired from the upper levels of a multi-story building? (not asking about rooftops)

Thanks in advance.

No to both:

No weapon depicted on a 5/8" counter may occupy an upper level of a building [EXC: Mortars (23.85); Fortified Building (23.93)]. A non-vehicular weapon on a 5/8" counter may be set up or pushed into a building/rubble only if it is either a small target (C2.271) or an AT/INF Gun that is not a large target. Mortar fire, and MG/Gun attacks vs Aerial targets, are not allowed from a non-rooftop building Location.

Good answer, but he was asking about light mtrs which do not come on 5/8" counters....

MTRs or mtrs can fire from a buidling location if the building is roofless (think RB roofless factory hex).

That is correct, I'm asking about the light (support weapon) type 1/2 inch counter mortars.

Right, but the rule makes no distinction whether 5/8" or 1/2"... it just says:

Mortar fire, and MG/Gun attacks vs Aerial targets, are not allowed from a non-rooftop building Location.

Pretty clear to me.

Indirect Fire from a Roofless Factory Hex in RB is specifically allowed by O5.45. There is no general rule allowing mortar fire from a building (roofless or not).

A mortar can´t shoot if IN a building, unless roofles. No matters if 1/2 or 5/8 counter.
