Leader, FT and leader direction

Can a leader both use a FT and direct fire in the same fire phase?

My opinion is no. As soon as he does one or the other he is marked with the appropriate fire counter and then cannot accomplish the other.

Any different opinions?

He cannot do both.

A9.12 ...If a leader fires/uses a SW-MG/any-other-SW (either singly or in combination with another SMC), he loses any leadership DRM he may have otherwise exerted during that fire phase, but the SW is exempt from Cowering.​

What can be done is to use a 0 leader to prevent the cowering of a MMC firing a FT. Using a good (with neg modifier) leader, it's bit of a waste imo.
