USPS lieth to me! "Expected delivery: August 6th".

I get the Ambush on the postman (I'm stealthy: -1, and he was Lax due to the extreme heat) and he's got nothing but junk mail. :blab::mad::freak: So I withdrew to my house to wait for the Monday turn.
I guess I get to "taunt you a second time" as I got my copy of Cholm yesterday, "the 6th of August, a day which will live in infamy"! And I received it without a USPS notice. So there!

You leave me no option but to "fart in your general direction". Kicking a man when he's down, huh? I predict your bad karma will come back to haunt you in future DRs. Important ones too, none of that pansy Weather Change or PTC DRs. :laugh:

Well, what do you think of Cholm? Review please.

Two Words...Bloody Awesome! Love the idea of two maps, one winter and one summer. Instead of having to put down overlays to represent the changing terrain, the maps themselves contain all the changes. The play aids are also top notch and the counters are very nice as well - printed on card board with units in winter camouflage. I've read through a lot of the rulebook already and it appears to be very well laid out and clear. I am truly looking forward to playing this one. The CGs are especially appealing.

I will have to bone up on extreme winter and snow, but I feel this gives me a great excuse to do so. I should have my first FtF foray in a couple of weeks.

I am happy that I laid out the dough for this one.

I will add in my opinion as well. I received my copy yesterday and have been looking over the goodies since. Very well done. Excellent quality to the product. I am still going through everything, but from what I have seen I am confident I will get more than my money's worth. I obviously can't make any claims on balance or fun factor at this point, but as soon as VASL gets the maps I am sure this is going on the playlist.

I will also interject that despite at least one opposing view, I am VERY happy to have the Historical Background booklet. I know nothing about this event and it is a pleasure to have something to give me the overall picture of what transpired.

KGS arrived yesterday, finally. Haven't had time to really go through it but what I saw come out of the box is awesome. Excellent production. Well worth the price.

Question regarding Scenario KGS2. The Russians get 2 radios. SSR 3 gives the Russian one 80mm and one 120mm OBA. It also gives them an offboard observer.

Do both radios come in and just contact one battery? Does one get removed (i.e., if you pick the west for the offboard observer, that radio is removed, or if you pick the east that one is removed)?

Also, the SSR does not indicate what level the offboard observer is at. Is it at ground level (level 0)?

Check out rule KGS4.2 that addresses this. Short answer: I think each observer has to be assigned to one module. I know a module can have 2+ observers. You're not going to remove anything. It's a big scenario, stuff breaks...

Yep. I need to finish reading all the rules before I jump in.

Another KGS2 scenario question. The Russian units that set up onboard get to set up concealed per the setup instructions and the OB given "?" . The Germans do not have the same instruction (i.e., set up concealed...) and are given 32 concealment counters. Is this correct? - i.e., the Germans can not set up concealed unless they use one of the OB given "?" counters. Given the 97 MMC in the initial German OB, this would mean a lot of units would not be concealed until after post setup "?" counters are placed.

Another fine example of why this forum needs an LFT 3rd Party Section.

It is as if the Russians set up off board. The German ? are dummies.

The off board observer is at level 1.

No radio is removed (unless x). KGS4.2 is in play. So you can have say the off board work the 120mm, while one on board radio goes for 80mm, and the third radio listens to the BBC. Later in the game maybe the off board observer listens to the BBC, and the other two radios try to access the 120 and athe 80.

Most Americans have absolutely no idea what size an A1 map is. It would help show the value of the product if you listed it as A1 (approx 23x33").
DIN A4 is roughly the same size as the US letter format (slightly more height and less wide)
A3 = twice the size as A4
A2 = A3 * 2
A1 = A2 *2

So an A1 map is roughly 8 times as big as a letter.
