Hello, my opponent and I wanted to verify setup instructions for the Soviets. Special Rules 8 says:
”The Soviets secretly designate and setup/enter as follows:
- Choose and set up fortifications on map;” (Italics my emphasis)

I just want to verify that this does not mean Fortifications (e.g., if I purchase Pillboxes) should actually be on map at scenario start, but rather during setup one should place them, then record and remove them per normal. In other words, normal rules would apply (A12.33).

If the locations are recorded (incl. CA, contents, etc,) they are considered "on map" just as any other HIP unit. In that case I do not believe placement is literal.

It does not mean Fortification should be set on map. Fortification should be set up as per A12.33

Thanks to you both! This is what I assumed, but just wanted to make sure. Setup is so huge it would’ve been a pity to make a mistake in assumptions
