I like how you pointed out some little used rules. Only a rules reference would have improved that approach. A real enjoyable and informative AAR.

I saw two places to add references: ordnance SMOKE against caves and pushing large guns into cave complexes. I added the rule reference. Did you see any others?

Great AAR. I did a solo playing of this scenario a while back and the Americans got chewed up. A Sherman being taken out by a light mortar remains etched in my mind. IIRC, the Japanese used the conscripts to defend the government building while the real troops defended further back. This is a scenario where hara-kiri might come into play if you are playing interrogation rules (as I think we all should). Better for broken, captured Japanese HS to die than reveal hidden units to their captors.
