J 184 Dayan To Meet You on Board KR

Does anyone know what the various colours mean on board KR which I have inherited? I have not come across pink hexes before nor dotted lines around hexes in presumably a desert scenario.

The pink hexes are hills. The dotted lines are the cave complex boundaries. It is a map of a ridge in Okinawa. Lots of cave fighting.

Thanks a bunch for replying so promptly. I had kind of figured it was something to do with different levels. The problem for me is that I have counted six different levels making LOS more problematic than it usually is!: Dark Green, Light Green, Pink, Dark Pink, Brown, Dark Brown. And where do we find the explanation for these colours - not in Chapter G of the Rulebook anyway!? Maybe in one of the PTO box sets? Also LOS threads don't seem to work normally on this mapboard in VASL. You see the thread but no LOS confirmations.

The levels seem to match those of usual geoboards.
