Hi guys,

not an unusual situation maybe.....a Russian AFV is in bypass of a woods hex. My German concealed squad and leader advance in, win the Ambush dr.

Is the -1 CC DRM for the Ambush cumulative with the -1 Street Fighting Ambush DRM? Or is it the same ?

My copy of the rules state explicitly that they don't combine.

Accordying to rules, SF ambush automatically allows infantry to withdraw to the building location adjacent to the road from where they advanced with SF.. Not sure if by getting normal CC ambush the infantry may move to a diff location

The gist of the question was street fighting vs a bypassing vehicle, since that is possible. You don't get a -2 DRM, just a -1, but I believe you do get to withdraw. That is the type of street fighting I think he was asking about.

Suppose an AFV in a road with smoke and a concealed MMC advancing from a SF position.. SF is automatic but a normal ambush is possible. If normal ambush is rolled for, I think unit may withdraw to any hex, no need to be returned to the original hex.
I remember something about road hexes with rubble or debris are still road hexes for SF purposes.. so is possible to advance concealed with automatic SF.

Of course, also AFV-in-bypass case

Sure, Village narrow streets for instance; even if the vehicle is in the ADJACENT road hex for purposes of bypass determination.

Ambush is more flexible than street fighting, allowing you to withdraw to any location.

With normal Ambush the AFV would be +1 for its CC attack, if applicable, whereas it wouldn't apply for a SF situation (either MPh or CC).

If the vehicle is subject to Street Figthing Ambush, it gets a +1 CC DRM - same as in a regular Ambush (will never come into effect during the MPh though, since the vehicle can't attack back then).

A11.8:
"...All Infantry advancing into that road Location from ground level of one or more of those adjacent building hexes qualify for a Streetfighting Ambush -1/+1 DRM in CC vs the vehicle (not cumulative with the normal -1/+1 CC DRM for Ambush) unless actual Ambush occurs even if the vehicle is accompanied by escorting Personnel..."

Isn't SF a reaction fire attack? AND Ambush in the CC phase?
