Why would you want to remind the Europeans that much of the damage in France and the Netherlands was done by mindless American aerial blanket bombardment, rather than by German occupying forces? The "occupation" of France was not an attempt by Nazis at "world domination", but rather a defensive move by Germany to end British bombardment of German cities, via building defensive installations along the coast to form "Fortress Europe". It was economic blockades by Britain and the USA, and American hoarding of gold, from 1929 onward that triggered the world war, and it was the Anglo-American capitalist and Russian Communist desires for world economic domination post WW1 that triggered the Axis pacts. The expansionist actions by the Nazis were an attempt to unify the German-speaking peoples of Europe - to counteract this economic warfare. Capitalists, Communists and Nazis all shared the blame for the deaths of 52 million people. The American love of aerial bombardment of civilian populations is nothing to be proud of - and such moral depravity continues today. Many French and Dutch civilians became "collateral damage", later blamed on the Nazis. Only America still harbours the desire to dominate the world. Britain is supportive because they are nostalgic for their past Empire where "the sun never set".
Don't glorify it.
Don't ask him how he feels about the IIFT.

Sorry for the re-direct of the topic. To Michael R, thanks for the link. The Pegasus Bridge photo is quite something. Based on the detail, only one glider landed near the bridge, with two others landing farther afield on either side of the canal. As for the parking lot at the top left, are we to believe that's how the other gliders landed? It looks like half the force could have been wiped out on the ground by "friendly flyer" as later gliders would hit personnel disembarking from earlier gliders. What a mess!

Aha, thanks for clarifying. I didn't notice the shadows, and thought north was to the top. Makes much more sense now.

But what about that traffic jam of gliders at the top. That's insane!
