Basically, I would like to rename the DBPh maps from CH to something different so their names do not conflict with other maps. (D1, D2, D3, ....)

Easily doable so the maps can co-exist with their brothers?

I haven't tried it, but couldn't you just go in your Boards folder and change the name from bdDBP to bdXYZ?

Not sure which maps you are referring to the only DBPh map I am aware of is a single map and does not conflict with other maps. However in an attempt to answer your question:

A vasl map file is in fact a zip file with the .zip extension deleted. Inside the zip file are some files one of which will be an image (usually a GIF) which has the same name as the bd file. For example if the board file is bdXXX then the image should be bdXXX.gif

In order for the map to work it is essential that the image name and bd name match so to change the bd name you must also change the image name.

To do this you first need to add the .zip extension to the bdXXX file so it now looks like bdXXX.zip.

You can now open the zip file and see the files within it. Right click on the bdXXX.gif file and copy it. Paste it to a folder somewhere where you are going to do your work and then rename it to say bdYYY.gif.

Copy the bdXXX.zip and paste it to your area of work.

Delete the bdXXX.gif from the bdXXX.zip.

Put the bdYYY.gif into the zip file.

Rename the zip file to bdYYY.zip.

Delete the .zip extension. You now have a renamed board bdYYY

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks mate, we will try that.

There are geomaps that also come with Dien Bien Phu, which works with Carl Nogueira's scenarios (David Lamb did the HASL map ones). They are d1, d2, d3 (corrected, there's no "d4")

Was not aware of these maps - where can you get them from?

Some maps that were available in the past on the original Vasl site and on the CH site seem to have been lost in the passage of time.

If they were lost and someone has them then please post them somewhere where we can all get a crack at them.

Here is a dropbox link. I will keep this open for a while, but will eventually take them down. It would be better if someone 'official' made 'official' names for them that did not conflict with the current ones and could be uploaded to the VASL web site.

Might be nice if someone ("cough BFP/LFT") could get the rights to DBPh and cleanup/republish it.
