I am curious what people think should constitute a "victory" in this scenario? After being on the business end of a good old fashion spanking by the Axis I am interested to hear of other people's ideas of what it takes to declare OVERWHELMING victory.

This ties in with the Sealion thread in that I think it is premature for the Axis to declare an OV while the UK still stands. However, as the game stands now it would be hard if not impossible for the Axis to defeat the home islands even after destroying Russia. Does this truly represent an OV for Germany to have an invincible aircraft carrier parked off her coast?

My belief is that in a "total-war" such as WWII there should be much more stress on total-destruction of the opposite side, rather than tiddling with 3 and 5VP hexes all over the map. Once there is a realistic chance for Sealion to work (based on proposed changes in the TO) I would like to suggest a reworking of the VP's such that Germany cannot attain anything better than a Significant Victory without also defeating the Brits.

Once Russia is gone, it would be interesting to see the might of the entire Axis empire focused solely on a few hexes of southern England squaring off against the UK, all the Amis, and the rebel Russians. It would just make the post fall-of-the-USSR blues go away a little bit sooner :) as well as make Germany think twice about squandering everything in the conquest of Russia...

If the Axis control most of Europe, Africa, and western Asia I would call that an overwhelming victory. Hitler's biggest priority was to eliminate the Soviet Union and have total control over the continent of Europe. I'm not sure what his long term views of the UK were but I know in the short term he wanted a armistice or even an alliance with the Brits rather than war.

I think the proposed Theatre Option - or however we handle it - to allow a victorious Germany to build up a larger navy and sea transport capability probably lies outside the scope of this scenario. It would have taken a year or two at least. Strangling the UK's merchant shipping with subs/aircraft would have been quicker and cheaper, but TOAW can't manage it. Option once the whole Continent is lost to reduce Allied supply to 'one'?

As Chuck says, dominating Western/Central/Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean basin would surely have put the Axis in a virtually unassailable military and industrial position, atomic bomb blackmail excepted (liberate France or we nuke Berlin, from a carrier group if necessary?)

Yes I agree that once Nazi Germany occupies all of Europe except the UK they are in a very strong position for years to come. A seperate scenario say between 1944-1950 could handle a war between the Axis and the USA/UK in the era after fall of the Soviet Union.
