Now it's called by the NRA: 'Good guy with a gun' - the myth originated with 19th Century dime novels, then again in Hollywood in the 20's with the cowboy movies. They were wildly popular at the box office, and from there its just a matter of Hollywood history. Prior to that - not so much.

Americans are hard-wired on this myth. Baked into our noggins. Prisoners and victims of both the media - and our own inability to notice.

I went for the "free love" and all I got was shot. What an odd world we live in. None of the victims are cooperating. I would really love to know why this happened, aside from too many guns on the streets.

Shooting at Kansas City swingers club leaves 5 injured

Five people were shot when at least two gunmen opened fire at a Kansas City swingers club on Sunday, authorities said.

The shooters let loose a barrage of gunfire at about 3:30 a.m. at the The Spott Lifestyle and Swingers Club, which is about 10 miles from downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

Five people rushed themselves to hospitals via private means, cops said.

Two had graze wounds and the other three had non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

All of the victims refused to cooperate with police after the shooting, authorities said.

Investigator recovered more than 40 shell casings from the scene, cops said. Police were searching for suspects Monday.

The beat goes on. Guns and liquor. Take the guns away, and a shooting becomes a brawl.

A bar shooting in Kansas leaves 4 people dead and 5 wounded

Nine people were shot at a private Kansas bar overnight, and authorities say the assailant is on the run.

The shooting broke out at 1:27 a.m. (2:27 a.m. ET), at the Tequila KC bar in Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman Thomas Tomasic said.

Four of the shooting victims died inside the bar, Tomasic said. The five other shooting victims are hospitalized in stable condition Sunday.

So far in November [edit: notice a significant pattern below? All are from states that went for Trump, and most are from states that are dominated by republican politicians]

Can't even get universal background checks, something that even a super-majority of gun owners support. Tyranny by the few.

GOP senator blocks Dem's effort to push gun bill amid California shooting

Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut requested that the universal background check bill, H.R. 8, be passed by unanimous consent -- a procedural move that allows a bill to skip several steps, including debate, to pass unanimously, without senators casting an individual vote.
"We can't go 24 hours without news of another mass shooting somewhere in America. My kids and millions' others hide in corners of their classroom or in their bathrooms preparing for a mass shooting at their school, and this body does nothing about it," Murphy, who represented the constituents of Newtown in the House of Representatives at the time of the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school mass shooting, said on the Senate floor just before noon on Thursday.
The motion was blocked by Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, who argued that the bill should not be "exempt from consideration by the appropriate committee of jurisdiction."
"Legislation that would affect the rights of American citizens under the Second Amendment should not be fast tracked by the Senate," Hyde-Smith said Thursday.
"If this so-called common sense bipartisan legislation was indeed crafted with strong bipartisan input, it shouldn't have any problems advancing by regular order," she added. "Many questions about this legislation need to be answered before it's forced upon law-abiding gun owners."

The gunman in the Saugus High School shooting used a 'ghost gun,' sheriff says

The 16-year-old who killed two students and injured three others in a shooting at a California high school last week used a "ghost gun," Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told CNN affiliate KABC.
Villanueva said the firearm was a "kit gun," meaning it was assembled from separately acquired parts and had no serial number, making it untraceable to authorities.
Authorities are investigating when the weapon was assembled, Villanueva said, and whether it was done by the gunman or his father, who died in 2017 of natural causes.
In the past, the father had six registered firearms, the sheriff told KABC. "Ultimately, at one point, all the weapons were lawfully removed from the home and he became a prohibited possessor," he said.
