Help with Biazza Ridge Hillock rule

My friend and I are about to start on Biazza Ridge, playing all the scenarios in sequence via VASL.
I am trying to wrap my head around 2.1 the Hillock rules, but am having problem understanding. Is there some more explanation or other tutorial I can find somewhere? Thanks in advance...
