I have finally got the courage to try out VASL. To make a long story short, I cannot get the download for the VASL Engine. Everytime I try to get the program it tells me Server Error. :(

If anyone can assist me or send me the program that would be great.
Please send to bocko57@ameritech.net

thanks
Bocko :)

The VASSAL engine site is down. There is a link to download the VASSAL engine on the VASL/download page. Thing is, it's not the same installation method as what you expect. rk is updating the VASL4 installation to install VASSAL and VASL mod simultaneously. If you just have it install into your current VASSAL direcotry, it should work.

The scoop from RK

I hope Rodney does not mind me cross posting this message from the ASLML.

The scoop:

The vassalengine.org web site is still offline. The ISP's "probably
within the
week" has turned into "would you believe next week?". But www.vasl.org is still
available. The VASL installer at http://www.vasl.org/VASL4/install_VASL.exe
includes the complete VASSAL engine, version 1.1.10, which uses the latest (and
demonstrably greatest) server. There are no from-scratch installers for
non-Windows, but if you've already installed VASSAL you can upgrade to VASSAL
1.1.10 with http://www.vasl.org/vassal/update/VASSAL_Update.zip

When I try to get to that site, I get "page cannot be found." Some assistance would be nice.

Thanks

I tried all the links below, and they seem to be working.

Anyways, from the author (the author is Rodney Kinney):

Last update had an annoying problem where you couldn't create a new file when starting a logfile.

Recent synchronization problems have been fixed with a server upgrade.

A longstanding problem with logfiles has also been fixed. In brief, stacks would lose counters if you added new counters to a moving stack while reading a logfile. VASL is now more intelligent when it comes to players manipulating counters while reading a logfile.

These fixes are all in the latest VASSAL engine, version 1.1.14. If you're already running VASL 4.0.10, you only need to get http://www.vasl.org/vassal/update/VASSAL_1_1_14.zip. If you're running an earlier version of VASL, you need http://www.vasl.org/VASL4/VASL4.zip. If you don't have VASL at all, the installer at http://www.vasl.org/VASL4/install_VASL.exe has the latest.

Enjoy!
