My name is Donato. I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. I have been married 36 years.I have a large
war-game collection. My wife says she will use them for a bonfire in the driveway when I die LOL. Like ASL, LOCK N LOAD TACTICAL, AVALON HILL, SPI GAMES.Looking forward to finding some rtf opponents on the forum.

You should check out the guys who hold the Hallowed Ground event in Gettysburg. ASLOk is only a couple hours drive from Pittsburgh and if at all possible you should attend, even for a day. Trust me the drive will be well worth it.

I was born in Altoona and have relatives in the Pittsburgh area too.

I'm about 5 minutes from Monroeville.. But I'm a newly-wed compared to 36 years.. I've only been married 34 years... I've been on a hiatus from ASL for a few years, but have nearly all of it. I suspect I could do some SK before breaking out Watchtower in full ASL. I've got a few games myself. Send me a message and we'll chat.

There is an active ASL community in Pa. and NE Ohio. See my post above for tournaments not far from you.

If you have played ASL I would advise that you skip the SK and dive into full ASL. Good luck and good gunnin to you!

Oh yeah, I've played ASL since the 80s. I was once well versed in the rules and very competitive. But sometimes the SK is a nice throwback to the SL days. No wargame even came close to ASL, many tried, all failed. However, ASL is QUITE a commitment and lifestyle. I like variety, from simple stuff like Warfighter DVG, combat commander, C&C to SUPER complex. I still got to work at least another 5 years. Lord willing, after that I might return to weekly full ASL gaming.

A lifestyle? I would not go that far unless you elect to make it so and your circumstances and - more importantly - your family allows it.

My kids are all adults and I'm down to the last few years of working before I downshift life. My circumstances will allow it. LIFESTYLE game is just a name many call games with a rulebook the size of a phonebook. However though, when I'm actively playing ASL, it does take some time to master. I already have my nose in the ASLRB.

It'll be a matter of a few weeks and I'll likely plan wife sanctioned store runs in ASLRB-ese...
