After-Action Report for the Fulda: Frontier of Freedom scenario between Michael Orwick (a.k.a. OJsDad) and Herman Hum for v2.02a FlashPoint Campaigns: Red Storm.

This video after-action report was originally planned as a joint effort between opponents to show both sides of the same battle, but real life circumstances prevented Michael from recording his NATO orders. Apologies in advance for the extreme length of this video as the level of descriptive detail contained within is very high. Fulda is currently the largest scenario written for the game.

Hi Herman,

Thanks for the information - I think I am underestimating the power of this simulation - the graphics etc must be deluding me because I just didn't realize it modeled threats up to this detail. From what you are saying, it obviously does this to an incredible degree.

I didn't realize you prepared walk through videos of scenarios either, whilst the mission was successful, I would still be interested to see a walk through if its on offer?

Finally just another quick one - I'm at work at the moment, but for when I get home - is there a plotting tool I can use on the subs to draw nm ranges around them to remind me of the 150% threat areas etc - couldn't find a way to do it last time I checked?

A nice game, but you must spend most of the time facing ships against the wind, and those little points pointing planes...are really very small.
I play HPS Midway from time to time, but in the end I am always abducted by Harpoon.

I totally agree. There's a good game in there somewhere, if you can get past the atrocious user interface. It's an MNO-level of horrible. Midway just makes me appreciate all the good things of Harpoon: customizable maps, detailed zoom, Message notification boxes, formation editor, and actual time compression.

However, the requirement to 'turn into the wind for aircraft launch' and hangar management is simply the best I've yet seen.

I tried an MNC MP match against the person who introduced me to the game. We both found it virtually unplayable with time compression and control problems. I introduced that same friend to Harpoon MP and we tried a match right afterwards. He was totally amazed at the functions and features in ANW that are so sorely absent from Midway. Needless to say, he immediately told me that he wants to play more ANW MP in the future and won't bother with MNC anymore.

Anyway MNC is a good game,that resembles SAI too.
I believe that nobody would expect a great naval warfare game from HPS, being known for land combat turn-based games (I have PC Market Garden and its really good although TOAW surpasses it)
And $ 49.95 is an excesive price for this game...
