SAN DIEGO — Despite the recent news that Xbox Entertainment Studios is turning off the lights before actually having flipped on the switch, at least one Microsoft franchise appears ready to survive in the dark.
A packed room of fans got their first look at "Halo: Nightfall," the forthcoming live-action series for the Xbox One console based on the multi-billion dollar sci-fi video game franchise, at San Diego Comic-Con Thursday.
There was plenty of buzz before the panel began, but it certainly didn't hurt to have an intro video from producer Ridley Scott.
The series' executive producer made mention to the fact that "Nightfall" is his first entry into the video game world, with support under the guise of 343 Industries — the publisher that took over developing 2012's "Halo 4" from original creators Bungie — and Scott Free Productions.
