Hello action fans! What a battle - John's request for the Pacific Theatre Battle for our next PBeM - it has Marines!, Naval Fire!, Marine outpost lines after the initial attack!, a Japanese counter-attack on multiple axis!!!

To start us off I am posting the West Point Military Academy's course related map of the Pacific Battle.

Stay tuned, in the coming days we shall have game images and commentaries.

The battle lines are drawn and a campaign of pbem battles set in the Pacific Theatre begins. Apparently, the Japanese had roughly 36 000 fighting men.
9 000 are lost to disease. 24 000 to combat!

The battle opens with a Marine landing and securing of the 7th Aug. '42 objectives - with a gaming allowance for actual fighting - and will conclude with the Marines 8th Aug Objectives.
Following this Marine opening romp. JFedoriw will switch over to the Japanese side and engage in the counter-offensives the Japanese engaged in. [Actually he has not confirmed that he will take both offensive roles as of yet..it is hoped for though].

More as the battles develop.

Turn 2

To the rousing sound of Banzaii the Japanese lauch counter-attack after counter-attack.
The US Marines are pushed back to their starting lines.
Elsewhere more men have become fallen heros for their homeland as the weak and lazy Americans have clearly been sitting by their mg's while gorging themselves on cans of Spam.

Even the Imperial Japanese Naval Air Fleet is on the job. More Marines are sent to their pointless destiny while catching sun rays in open topped amphibious vehicles.

On the game: This multi-game historical campaign pitting the Marines vs the Japanese on Guam is set on the premise that the Japanese had reinforced the island prior to the landings as opposed to during. As well, we take as a given that the small number of tanks available have also been landed in advance of the landings. Despite the romp in the early stages we further assume that the beach zone was garrisoned and only a minor force of experienced infantry nestled nearby. At this time the Japanese Navy has not moved to interdict the Marine force inland and the American Naval Force stationed nearby.

Mid-point.

Hello.
The mid-point of the Guadalcanal first round game has been achieved and so far the Marines have given and they have taken.
It would appear that JFedoriw has moved his force in a significant way to gain a strategic advantage.
Where will this counter-punch land?
It is pure guess work for me at this time. I cannot make head nor tails of his main force only some lead elements here and there.

Time will tell.

Japanese getting mauled.

Hello.

Well it looks like the Japanese are about to get mauled. The units nearest the beach hexes of the Marines are quickly dissappearing now.

We shall have to form a second line of defence while the fortification delay the advancing Americans.

Banzaii..

Well it looks like the Japanese are going to hold off the US Marines.
Although the USN air support showed and promptly destroyed two of 3 patrol ships .. the infantry seem to be falling behind schedule as the game end nears.
As well there is no sign of US Armour or much infantry by the US beach zones.
Could this be a trick.
Could our opponent be behaving like a mouse.
Might there be katnip around?

Stay tuned to this SPWAW channel.
