Good Pre-Reading for "Sword and Fire: Manila?"

The US Army "green books"...specifically "Triumph in the Philippines" gives a very nice overview of the entire battle. Other good sources are "Retaking the Philippines" by William Breuer and "The Battle of Manila".....but the author's name escapes me at the moment....Connaughton IIRC.

Yes, but the hardcovers look great on a bookshelf.

I think the most costly book I purchased for researching this project came from a publisher in Great Britain.....the history, TO&E, and other details for the 1st Cavalry Division from 1940 - 1945. Price was around $125 if I recall.

In Osprey's book on US Cavalry in WWII PTO, it is mentioned that they were still holding the cavalry weapons of Thompson SMGs and
M1 carbines in high favor (along with .45 sidearms being common among the enlisted ranks). Is this enough to warrant use of 7-4-7s ( without underlined ML nor assault fire.)

The opposite here. Upon order of the long-haired general, all of my WW2 library has been banned from the living room.

I have relegated it to the master bedroom instead.

Yeah some day I will make enough to afford the space for a proper bookshelf.

Fingers crossed, even Edinburgh isn't as expensive as Hong Kong I believe
