All,

I had a very back experience with a recent dealings I had from a "semi-reputable" game store.

I purchased the Gembloux II item from an auction on ebay that advertised the picture of the "New 8" x 22" GEO Board!" on the op of the cover and the "ASLG2" in black letters on a white background in the lower left corner of the cover.

Well, when I opened my mail today to see what had arrived, low-and-behold, I had a Gembloux II module in a sealed ziplock bag with the following info on the cover at the top; "UVillage 8" x 11" overlay edition" and the info in the lower left corner that read, "GEM2UVIL" in black letters on a white background.

Deceptive advertising?

Maybe they don't realize what they have to auction?

Or is this some trick to get folks cash?

I even asked if this was the "New Map edition" and got a reply from the company (through) ebay that this was in fact the map edition and there was one inside.

So was I "told a false truth"?

Was there a BIG mistake on whoever did the confirmation for this company?

I will be sending the item back to the store for a full refund, but I have also sent email with what the auction was that I bidded on, what the auction displayed as a picture and what I actually received.

I am alerting all that if they ever bid on an auction, please ask to verify what is being sold and then ask for a confirmation. It may help in the long run.

Oh, you can't blame CH on this one.

I was going to give the UVillage module I had to the Austin Team Tournament Director to place in the "Prize Pool" because of the New map item I was suppoesed to receive.

I found the CH1 map for sale, so I ordered that because I was missing it.

"Buyer Beware" on anything......

Thanks for listening to my rant......

Well, I try to stay away from them. I have bought some game components before of counter sheets. But I got duped before. Years ago I ordered some counters for about forty bucks from Wild Bill and they were pure crap. I found out about how much of a crook he is from Mark P's website. A hard lesson learned. They were a collection of glider's counters.

So, .............................you're saying you got a GemBII set without a CH1 map in it?
(Notice I wrote, GemBII vice ASLG2, or GEM2UVIL, thinking they were ALL the same)

Maybe I'm wrong?

For I thought ANY copy of Gembloux II had the new CH1 map in it; with all new CH counters.
Am I wrong, or where you confused with the different naming systems for CH and the store?

Just as I also renamed it! =o)

Curious to know the truth.

Yet even more curious, so when you ordered CH1 separately;
did you know they have TWO versions of that map now too?!

The original CH1 FULL-map and a new crappy half board map!

The full CH1 maps should hopefully still be in GEMB - #2 sets;
(notice I did it again), but Ray ran out of separate CH1 maps.

And if you try to order it, and do not pay attention to the fine print;
you'll wind up with the "INCREDIBLE" (sarcasm) new half map set!

So buyer beware!!! :mad:

I know.

The advertisement stated that it is one map sheet.

But ya gotta love Critical Hit even more! (with their 14 versions of each set and all the other crazy changes!)

Simply crazy, Kev! :mad::bite:

You know I ordered a couple of times from NK Games but never had an issue. Some of his prices are kind of crazy.

Anther great guy is out in Oregon I think he is Dean at Fine Games, his software interface is a bit hard to use but if you find what you want and get the skew # and name and call him and place the order over the phone it works our really great.

That dude must have a freaking warehouse full of stuff man. I spent $150 to $200 on stuff from him one winter.

I've made many purchases from NK Games since January (about $450 in ASL stuff); had one slight issue about a overlay advertised as ASLComp SCW3, the large villa on almost a 1/4 map sheet. I get the item and in plain BOLD writing it states "SCW3 ATS Overlay. For use with the ATS system"........ This message was on a green piece of paper that you can easily see and the best part was the "snazzy ziplock bag" was "sealed at the top. I had to cut the bag open to get the overlay out. I was a bit miff'd, but I also got a Guerra Civil War from an Ebay Auction for $20 and it had the same overlay inside. So now I have two sets of SCW maps (1-3) to use.

But this item I specifically asked if this had the map as advertised and they replied "Yes, the map is inside the ziplock bag." But when I get the package, the UVillage is the "map" that is inside, even though the advertisement states a "8 x 22 GEO map". I guess they are too busy (or ignorant) to what they are selling (this store appears to be in Wisconsin BTW)......

I've dealt a bit with NKG and never had troubles. Sold them some stuff once and they paid a good price. I bought a copy of John Hill's Battle for Stalingrad via 6 Angles through them, they were sure it had an English copy of the rules and it did not. The person that I dealt with there worked very diligently to correct the situation for me. I've bought a lot from them at really good prices. Some of the stuff is priced "for collectors only" and you know, it's no different from eBay. If someone wants it bad enough and they don't want to play the bidding game they will pay the price.

CH! stuff is getting to the point where I find it hard to begrudge a place like NKG for having a listing like this. One damn near has to be a CH specialist just to keep track of all the changes from one version to another. Quite honestly I am surprised that Mark hasn't red-flagged them on his site and said "this place has just thrown QC out the window and I have to give them an overall BUYER BEWARE warning until they start treating their audience/customers with more respect."

Joe,

I know the experiences with the NK Games. They offered to refund me the money for the SCW3 overlay, but it look so good, that I placed it in a small picture frame for a few days, telling everyone that was a "satellite view" of my new house..... Some of the "older guys" that saw the overlay weren't wearing their glasses so I had them fooled for a few minutes until I told them what it really was. We had a good laugh.

But I was (and still am) pissed at NKG beacuse I asked a question about did the picture advertised (with the 8 x 22 GEO map) actually represent what was on sale. The reply I got back was, "Yes, the map is inside the sealed ziplock". So with this answer I bought it. Well, what a SURPRISE I had when I opened the mailing package..... The UVillage version was inside (I already had this from an earlier purchase from NK Games in January). I was really hoping that he CH1 map was inside. But I have three (3) copies of the UVillage overlay from earlier products purchased from NKG or CH (the UVillage came in Major Upham Battle Pack, Fire & Ice and the Gembloux II (GE2UVIL) modules.

When you ask a seller a "specific" question, you can only base your decision to purchase the item from what is answered to you.

With NKG, I'm ALWAYS asking before I buy.

And yet you continue to buy CH crap and keep them in business. Amazing.

I simply don't understand the folks who buy CH stuff and are surprised to find it's missing something, or its a reprint of another product, it's unbalanced, ad nausea. I don't see how they stay in business...

This was not a critical hit problem, but a game store advertising one product and selling another; both are similar in appearence, but they have different front cover pages and different terrain inside.

Yeah, CH has produced problems in the past, but this time I am NOT faulting them. Just "over-zealous" sellers advertising the wrong product for sale.

Stalin's Fury I or II are good, small Ost Front city fighting packs.

Stalin's Fury I is worth the expense; SF II has a flat panel map and counters, same scenarios and four pages of color rules that show the building and terrain very well. The rules are definitely an "up-grade" in the right directions.

I played the Stalin's Fury 4 - A Few Brave Men.

I played this at the Austin Tournament and it was a close game. The German's, my opponent, got a a ROF run with his MMG and destroyed to stacks worth of my Assault Groups.

Yeah, I lost but it was a good fight.....

Thanks for bringing up this bad memory....

One good thing about Stalin's Fury I & II, is that if you have the original DTW map, or the Valor of the 37th Guards map, you can play all of the Stalin's Fury I & II scenarios on those maps as well. The maps for Stalin's Fury is just a blown up area of the DTW maps.
