Just started LOTRO.

I have to say that from a technical standpoint it is a piece of junk with it's amateurish installer and launcher. Took me two days total to figure out what's wrong, and that is plus 5 hours download.

WoW downloaded a demoable client in a couple of minutes and worked without messing with anything, on several OSes including Linux.

The LOTRO people should be glad I like Tolkien so much.

Hi Nemo! Thanks for dropping in. :D

Hmmm, I can't recall having any problems downloading or launching the game, except for how long it took. Then again that was awhile back maybe things have changed or it's designed for players who have no computer sense like me and you just over thought the "launcher for dummies" design.

That's a bummer though & certainly doesn't help the game.

It seems to run fine if you have XP and a local disk and absolutely nothing special. For me it fails because it doesn't run on Win2k - and doesn't give an error message saying so. Then it took 2 days to find out that it doesn't run from a network drive (I have all games on network drives) - and doesn't give an error message indicating so. Furthermore, in addition to Win2K they also nuked the already working support for Linux - while WoW works just dandy.

There's a D&D Online? I voted LOTRO obviously but was unaware of a D&D. Can't say I'm interested in getting involved in another MMO, but curious now what it's like. Is it based on the gold boxes from SSI/Interplay/whoever? Those were fun.

Right now I still have one month left on my sub to LOTRO, but I am also playing Aion and Champions Online because I still have some free time left on those.

But more than likely in a few weeks I will be picking up Fallen Earth as well.

No mmo's here sadly despite WoW sitting in its box behind me :hush:. I have Sins of Solar Empire and The Elder Scrolls Daggerfall on my computer right now. I do have AGEOD's American Civil War sitting on a table behind me along with Oblivion game of the year edition as well but due to midterms (with one class requiring that I write 10 papers for the midterm of varying page lengths)... I'm going to be very busy until the end of next week
