Piracy is the doom of all IPs!!!!! Or is it?

[h=1]Game of Thrones breaks BitTorrent records[/h]
Game of Thrones director David Petrarca has previously said that he didn't worry about the piracy of his show (a position he quickly reversed when the statement drew a lot of media attention). More recently, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo told Entertainment Weekly something quite similar, even noting that piracy doesn't seem to affect sales figures on the DVDs.
I probably shouldn't be saying this, but it is a compliment of sorts. [Piracy is] something that comes along with having a wildly successful show on a subscription network. The demand is there and it certainly didn't negatively impact the DVD sales.

Hmm....

Local cable company had a "catchup" weekend. All the subscription series were free on on demand.

Yeah, ha ha, the video is pretty funny. :)

BTW, I have one serious complaint about GoT. The show and books are so wildly popular that I don't feel especially, well, special ;) for being a fan. I mean, I really like it, but so does everyone else. Absolutely zero cult/snob appeal. ;) On a related note, in the mmo's I've been playing, I see a lot of people naming their avatars after GoT characters. How original (not).

It's true! I hate it when some bit of sci-fi or fantasy goes ultra mainstream. Guess I can be guilty of a cosa nostra mentality at times, too. :D

And you hit the other annoying thing! :D

Eh, it is all good. Anything that makes adult fantasy or sci-fi super popular is fine in my book.
