A23.7 states "A Set DC may be detonated using the 36+ IFT column during any friendly fire phase in a subsequent Player Turn by that Good Order unit (or one of its derivative HS, if a squad which has been Reduced or Deployed), provided it is within six hexes and LOS of the DC (but at least two hexes away), and passes a NTC."

A23.71 states "A detonated Set DC is resolved on the 36+ FP column of the IFT"

G1.6121 states "An A-T Set DC may be detonated only as Defensive First Fire, and only as a vehicle enters its Location using the road. If the DC successfully detonates, the vehicle becomes a Blazing Wreck".

Does passing the NTC to detonate the the A-T Set DC automatically destroy the vehicle without any DC effects dice roll (meaning no possibility of malfunction)?

No. The reason you know that an effects DR has to be made is because Infantry using Armored Assault would also be attacked. That would require the effects DR, which in turn implies that malfunction is possible. I think that the A-T Set DC is treated as a normal Set DC except as stated otherwise is supposed to cover it because a Set DC requires an effects DR and that isn't excluded for the A-T Set DC, but it is a bit confusing when you just look at the parts you pulled out.
