The thing about democracies is that they can only go to war when the people believe in the cause they are fighting for. If you believe after six years of total war, the people of the western democracies were willing to undertake another world war against the ally who essentially saved them from the Nazis, in order to save East Germany from Communism, then a bit of reading might be in order. Roosevelt was an elected politician who knew what the voters would stand for, and another world war was not it.

No, that is not what I believe, but Roosevelt did try to play Stalin and allowed himself to be suckered in by Stalin. Churchill said this much, but was not listened to.

Simple, before he died he allowed Stalin basically a free hand in what he wanted land wise as he thought he could out maneuver him, Truman carried this on as it had all been set in stone at Yalta, read up on it, it is quite shocking how innocent Roosevelt was in regards to how to deal with Stalin.

He allowed Stalin's spies to work in a spies paradise....that is, they had free reign to ask and know everything! Churchill probably considered him a simple brained fool. Then again, he was a democrat?
