Okay,

Sooner than I thought. A gift from HoB to all of you:

HoB's "All Time Favorites."

Welcome to the first installment of Heat Of Battle’s All-Time Favorites. Along with our customers, we love these scenarios. However, we felt they needed slight tweaks for errata and balance. Thus we saw an opportunity to update them for the benefit of the gaming population.

More details and download at: http://heatofbattle.com/

Enjoy!

Klaus and crew,
You guys are the best! Thanks for this. I played "One Eye to the West" a few years ago at a tourney and loved it. However, don't own the pack it came in. Now, all is good in my lil' world.
Woohoo!

Hi-
Very nice but......can you please change the black SS counters back to blue? It looks kinda ugly as is right now, plus its hard to read once printed.
other then that, they look awesome.

Scott,
I have to admit this surprises me a bit, as most player seem to love the MIB and our reference prints looked very promising.
But I will check into this and maybe we'll post an alternative version with blue SS counters.

Now THAT is customer service. Because one guy didn't like 'em, we all get to have either flavor. Man, if only MMP would read a few pages from the HoB book. Kudos to you guys and thanks again.

HoB setting the new standard

I want to thank and congratulate HoB for providing us for FREE what I think should be the new standard for ASL.

#1 - They are providing us with FREE scenarios. That's very rare in the ASL community.

#2 - They are providing us with HIGH QUALITY, PDF style with beautiful graphics, FREE scenarios.

#3 - Did I mention FREE scenarios?

I understand that it is hard work to design a quality scenario. It's hard enough to learn how to play the friggin game let alone design a good scenario. But it disturbs me that I have to pay for 95% of the scenarios out there (I'm not talking about scenarios that come with a module, just add-on scenarios) - this is a hobby that has always been shooting itself in the foot because it is so expensive to get involved in it. Most people photocopy the heck out of paid for scenarios anyway and distribute them to others freely, and some even sell them for their own profit as you all know.

HoB has the right idea, high quality payware like OtO, with the right blend of FREE stuff that we can all enjoy for FREE. And, they have FREE scenarios.

Also, can I get the SS counters in the camouflage smock pattern?

Just kidding....keep up the good work.

(dons flame-retarding NOMEX tanker suit...)

Free Scenarios

Someone uptopic suggested that free scenarios are rare in the ASL community. Yet MMP and Critical Hit, to name just two, have made free scenarios available.

That's why I said that 95% of the scenarios are pay-per-view, because there are free ones out there.

I forgot to update the html page. After doing the blue PDF I realized with which Distiller settings I could make it smaller and did so for the black PDF too.
So they're both the "smaller" size now - I think 1.1 MB?

P.S: With about 1.300 hits in just 5 days, the ATF concept looks really promising, so we're just some AARs shy of ATF# 2 8) HINT! HINT!

Could someone send me the download file? I am not able to connect to the HOB website. It is blocked on my ISP.

Thanks, Kevin Klausmeyer

Kewl. Hey, it would be great for those of us with the originals to get a list of differences between the versions... if these free ones are better balanced or something, then I'd like to note that on the versions I have. It's not a necessity, but a nice-to-have.

Freebies

I too always like freebies, but I honestly hope this doesn't become too common, unless of course they are brand NEW scenarios. I paid good money to own eveything from HOB, I may become reluctant to spend those dollars if all I have to do is wait in order to get them free.

I am not big on updated scenarios, especially when it comes to republishing them to fix balance problems. If I have played it already chances are quite good it will never be played again regardless of it's balance problems. Too many other ones I have not gotten to yet. Balance is overrated anyways IMO.

Hi all,

well ATF 1 was a "test baloon" to see how ASL player respond to this. And the easiest way to do this was by re-publishing older scens and at the same time fix scenarios that we thought are great, but have some "reputation" problems :)
The response by download was pretty good so far and we're planning on doing a second issue; however we want to know if people are just downloading these for their collection or if they're really playing them. If so, send us your AAR, post it here, post it at the ASLML, or Consimworld. Let us know if the "bandage" helped or if the scenario still has some problems.
For ATF 2 we plan on one re-publish and (most likely) two brand new, never before published scenarios that will promote some of the products in our pipeline - call them Teasers.
We try to listen to our customers and "feed" their needs; so your feedback is your tool to get us doing what you want :D
BTW, the intro page of the ATF 1 lists all the changes done.
So, let us hear what you think of #1 and let us hear what you want.
Ciao

Heat of Battle Downloads

Hey Klaus,

I am having problems getting the "All Time Favorites" to download. I can get into the HOB site but every time I try to download the scenarios it starts to work for about 4 or 5 seconds and then quits. I have ordered OtO from the site and received it with no problems. BTW although I haven't played it yet it has some of the best looking counters I have ever seen. New toys and new rules will definitely make this a must play for me. Also Kudos to HOB for getting Chas Smith on board. I have his original HOW packet and I learned more than I thought possible about AFV's in combat. He is truly someone we need to keep in the ASL loop. Great job on the HOB site, I truly am a fan.
