I have both. The original is fine with a full paper map while the newest one has better map graphics, bigger hexes but with map panels, which some people really hate. Personally I don't mind them as you only need to use the ones necessary for play. Plus I put them under plexiglass and they don't move. The newest one comes with enough Italian counters to play, as your SK ones would not be enough for the earlier version. I would recommend the newer one. You could get the older one but would have to wait for Hollow Legions for the full Italian OoB.
