My son is looking to get into this. Any tips or advice? I'm trying to talk him into ASL but his friend already has the American set.

Thanks,

Jim

Hey Jim, just saw this and here are my thoughts. Nice game and fun to play, can be bloody, fairly easy to learn. A lot of abstract rules to simplify game play. I do not like the parking lot appearance you get when you play with fair numbers of vehicles, but that's just me. The game is very popular, as WW2 games go, and it is a good introduction to historical miniatures gaming. Maybe after your son gets a force together and plays a few games you could point out to him where the FoW rules fall short of a representation of WW2 combat and steer him to something more realistic(ASL). FoW isn't a bad way to start though. All my opinion of course, also may want to check out the "Blitzkieg Commander" rules.
